Baklava
A rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped walnuts and held together with syrup.

Ingredients
- 500g filo dough, 400g walnuts (ground), 250g butter (melted), 1kg sugar, 500ml water, juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- 1. Brush a baking pan with butter and layer half the filo sheets, brushing each with butter. 2. Spread the walnuts over the sheets. 3. Cover with the remaining filo sheets, continuing to brush with butter. 4. Cut into diamonds before baking. 5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) until golden brown. 6. Prepare a syrup by boiling sugar, water, and lemon juice. 7. Pour cold syrup over hot baklava and let it soak overnight.
