Cachorro Quente

The Brazilian hot dog is more like a meal in a bun, usually served with sausages in a tomato-based sauce and a variety of toppings.

Ingredients

• 4 hot dog buns
• 4 sausages (vina)
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 cup tomato sauce
• Corn, peas, potato sticks (batata palha)
• Mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup
• Optional: mashed potatoes

Instructions

1. Simmer sausages in tomato sauce with onions for 10 minutes.
2. Slice the bun and spread mayo.
3. Place the sausage and some sauce in the bun.
4. Add corn, peas, and a layer of mashed potatoes if desired.
5. Top with potato sticks and condiments.
