Coney Island Chili Dog
A Detroit and Midwest favorite: a grilled hot dog topped with a specialized beanless beef chili, yellow mustard, and raw white onions.

Ingredients
- 4 all-beef hot dogs
- 4 hot dog buns
- Coney Sauce: 1/2 lb ground beef, 1/4 cup water, 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp garlic powder
- Yellow mustard
- 1 small white onion, finely diced
Instructions
- Prepare Coney sauce: cook ground beef with water and spices, mashing into a fine texture until thick.
- Grill or boil the hot dogs.
- Steam the buns slightly.
- Place dog in bun, top with a generous ladle of chili sauce, a stripe of mustard, and plenty of raw onions.
