Buna (Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony)

The traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, where beans are roasted, ground, and brewed in a clay pot (jebena).

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Wash and roast the green coffee beans over coals until dark and oily.
  2. Grind the roasted beans with a mortar and pestle.
  3. Add the ground coffee to a jebena (clay pot) with boiling water.
  4. Let the coffee settle and pour into tiny cups (sini) without disturbing the grounds.
  5. Serve with popcorn or roasted grains.
