Fainá

A thin, savory flatbread made from chickpea flour. In Uruguay, it is the inseparable companion of pizza.

Instructions

  1. 1. Mix chickpea flour and salt. Gradually add water while whisking to avoid lumps. Let rest for at least 1 hour. 2. Preheat a shallow round pan with oil until very hot. 3. Pour the batter into the pan (should be about 1cm thick). 4. Bake at 220°C (430°F) until the edges are crispy and the top is golden. 5. Serve hot, sprinkled with white or black pepper.
