Karask (Barley Bread)
A rustic, quickly-made barley and curd cheese bread, often served warm with honey and butter.

Ingredients
- 500g curd cheese (quark) 2 cups barley flour 2 eggs 1/2 cup kefir or sour cream 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp sugar Optional: caraway seeds
Instructions
- 1. Mix the curd cheese with eggs and kefir. 2. Stir in the dry ingredients (flour, soda, salt, sugar). 3. Pour the thick batter into a greased loaf pan. 4. Sprinkle with caraway seeds if using. 5. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 30-35 minutes. 6. Best served warm with fresh butter and honey.
