Knefeh
A warm and gooey cheese dessert topped with a crispy semolina or shredded pastry crust, drenched in sweet syrup and served in a sesame roll.

Ingredients
- 500g Akawi or mozzarella cheese (soaked to remove salt), 2 cups semolina or shredded dough (kataifi), butter, orange blossom water syrup, Kaak (sesame rolls).
Instructions
- Melt the cheese in a tray until it is elastic. Top with a layer of buttered semolina dough. Bake until the top is crispy. Invert onto a plate and drench in warm syrup. Traditionally served inside a thick sesame bread roll (kaak) for breakfast.
