Kołacz (Polish Wedding Cake)

An ancient Slavic ritual bread or cake. Today, it is usually a rich yeast dough filled with sweet cheese or poppy seeds, topped with a lattice pattern.

  1. Make a rich yeast dough and let it rise.
  2. Divide into two parts. Roll out one part as the base.
  3. Spread the filling. Use the second part to create a lattice or decorative top.
  4. Bake at 180°C until golden.
