The ultimate Egyptian street food — a unique and satisfying combination of rice, lentils, macaroni, and chickpeas, topped with a spicy tomato sauce and crispy fried onions.

Ingredients
- 1 cup brown lentils
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup macaroni (elbow or ditalini)
- 1 cup chickpeas, boiled
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 6 large onions, thinly sliced and fried until crispy
- Garlic, cumin, chili flakes
Instructions
- Cook lentils, rice, and pasta separately. Mix the rice and lentils together.
- Prepare a spicy tomato sauce with garlic, vinegar, and chili.
- Make "Daqqa" — a cold sauce of vinegar, garlic, cumin, and water.
- Layer the rice/lentil mix, then the pasta, then the chickpeas.
- Top with the tomato sauce and a generous amount of crispy fried onions.
- Serve with Daqqa and extra chili sauce on the side.
