Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich

A deli classic: cured, spiced, and smoked beef brisket, sliced thin and piled high on rye bread.

  1. Rub the brisket with the spice mix. Cure in the fridge for several days (traditionally). Smoke at low temperature (225°F) until tender. Steam the smoked meat for 2-3 hours until it falls apart. Slice thinly against the grain while hot. Pile generously onto rye bread and serve with yellow mustard and a pickle on the side.
