Thai Roti (Sweet Condensed Milk Pancake)
A popular street food dessert — a stretchy, buttery flatbread fried until crispy on the outside and soft inside, traditionally drizzled with condensed milk and sugar.
Cuisine: Thailand
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp condensed milk (for dough)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Butter or ghee for frying
- Condensed milk and sugar for topping
- Optional: Sliced bananas
Instructions
- Mix flour, water, egg, 1 tbsp condensed milk, and salt. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough.
- Divide into small balls, coat with oil, and rest for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
- On a greased surface, flatten a ball and stretch it until paper-thin.
- Heat butter in a flat pan. Place the dough in the pan. Fold the edges to make a square.
- Fry until golden and crispy on both sides. Add banana slices inside if desired before folding.
- Cut into squares, drizzle with condensed milk and sugar. Serve hot.
